From April 16th to 19th, Trapani will host the Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta 2010, an event of old world charm with prestigious sailing ships, an opportunity to discover the excitement of the sea.
The protagonists of Garibaldi Tall Ships Regatta 2010 are the "Tall Ships" - Sailing schools from all over the world and their crews made up of professional sailors and over 150 young volunteers, aged between 16 and 25, sea and sailing lovers. The tall ships moored in the port of Trapani will be the focus of an intensive programme of activities: excursions to discover the outstanding landmarks of the cultural and historical heritage of the area, visits to the tall ships at berth, photographic exhibitions, cultural, social initiatives and competitions for Schools, all-night events, shows and concerts, sporting events and important guests!
The event is organized by the Province of Trapani in collaboration with Sail Training International (STI).
The GARIBALDI TALL SHIPS REGATTA 2010 also enjoys the patronage of the Presidency of the Republic, the patronage of the Prime Minister, the Department for Culture and Heritage, the Department for Youth and Sports, Fondo Aree Sottoutilizzare (Fund for Underutilized Areas) set out in the APQ (Ministry of Economic Development, Sicily Region - Tourism Dept.) of the regions of Liguria and Sicily, and the active cooperation and support of provincial and municipal authorities of the cities of Genoa and Trapani. |
